Planning aid only. Billable weight is max(actual, DIM), with DIM rounded up per common carrier practice. Confirm divisors and rounding on your rate sheet — not an official UPS, FedEx, or USPS quote.

How to use

Measure length, width, and height in inches (or convert), enter the packed actual weight, and pick a carrier divisor preset (or custom). Merqly shows dimensional weight and the higher billable weight.

Use the result to choose packaging or price shipping. Carrier contracts, oversize rules, and retail vs account divisors differ — confirm on your rate sheet before quoting customers.

How the numbers work

  • DIM weight ≈ (L × W × H) ÷ divisor (UPS/FedEx/USPS presets or custom).
  • Billable weight ≈ max(actual weight, DIM weight), subject to carrier rounding.
  • Presets are common published divisors; accounts may differ.
  • Does not price postage or apply zone charts.
  • Not an official UPS, FedEx, or USPS rating tool.

FAQ

Which units should I use?

Use inches and pounds with standard US carrier divisors, or keep units consistent if you supply a custom divisor.

Why is my invoice higher than billable weight suggests?

Surcharges, oversize, unauthorized package charges, and residential fees stack on top of weight. Weight is only one input.

Do retail counter divisors match account rates?

Not always. Prefer the divisor in your contract or posted rate card over a generic preset when they differ.
