How to use

Enter the cart or line price, discounts, COGS, payment rate, and any per-order app or subscription allocation. Include shipping charged versus shipping paid if you subsidize delivery.

Use margin % and dollar contribution to set prices or cut weak SKUs. Confirm payment and plan fees in your Shopify admin and processor dashboard.

How the numbers work

  • Net revenue ≈ price − discounts − refunds reserve (if modeled).
  • Payment fee ≈ net revenue × processor rate + flat fee.
  • Contribution ≈ net revenue − COGS − payment − shipping loss − app allocation − other.
  • Margin % ≈ contribution ÷ net revenue.
  • Not a substitute for Shopify Payouts or accounting software.

FAQ

Where do subscription app fees go?

Divide monthly app cost by expected orders and enter that allocation so each order carries a share of tooling.

How do I treat free shipping thresholds?

Enter shipping charged (often $0) and shipping paid separately; the gap is margin pressure you can see immediately.

Does this include sales tax you collect?

Sales tax you remit is usually not revenue. Leave tax out of price or net it out so margin reflects merchandise profit only.
